Gallery of Sound
For our 2026 December concert, the Toronto Community Orchestra is trying something completely new: handing a canvas to a painter and asking them to paint what they hear.
The Gallery of Sound pairs a full live orchestral concert with original visual art created specifically in response to the music — displayed on stage, alongside the orchestra, as the pieces that inspired them are performed live. It’s not a concert with art on the walls as decoration. It’s one experience, built from two art forms responding to each other in real time.
Join us for an evening of music spanning the dramatic and the playful, the solemn and the celebratory — paired, piece by piece, with art you won’t see anywhere else, because it wouldn’t exist without this orchestra, this night, and the cause it’s raising funds for: free art programs for those affected by cancer.

Tickets: $20 General / $10 Youth / Kids 12 & under free.
At the Toronto Community Orchestra, we believe orchestral music should be accessible. We are offering Community Access Tickets at a discounted rate of $10 until November 10 – for those who need financial flexibility to join us. No proof required.
Your ticket (and any extra contributions) helps cover venue, music licensing, and rehearsal costs, while supporting our community outreach, including bringing music to long-term care homes.
Every piece of art created for Gallery of Sound will be available in a silent online auction during the performance, with proceeds going to the Art for Cancer Fund at Artbarn School, which provides free, accessible art programs to those affected by Cancer.
That means every ticket, every bid, does double duty — it supports local musicians, local artists, and a cause that uses creativity as a form of healing.
Local visual artists each selected a piece from the evening’s program — from Wagner’s radiant Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral, to the wild, theatrical energy of Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, to the shadowy, Slavic folklore of Mussorgsky’s Night on a Bald Mountain — and created an original work inspired entirely by what that music evokes: its mood, its story, its emotional arc. One of the evening’s pieces, a movement from a contemporary symphony, was even written by a TCO musician who’ll be performing it himself from within the orchestra that night.
The result: over 50 musicians performing a genuinely eclectic program — spanning late Romantic opera, Canadian orchestral classics, and modern film scores — while the art their music inspired is unveiled around them.
